EXCITING POWER

High Performance & High Controllability: The Z400’s 399 cc engine delivers a balance of performance and controllability. Strong performance at all rpm is complemented by good power feeling. Smooth, predictable response contributes to an easy-to-control engine character.

• ENGINE - Powerful, Rider-Friendly Parallel Twin: The engine’s strong performance can largely be credited to its downdraft intake, which is accompanied by a large airbox that contributes to intake efficiency. The performance is complemented by a rider-friendly character; the smooth response and abundant low-end torque facilitate throttle control for new and experienced riders alike.
• CLUTCH - Assist & Slipper Clutch: Developed based on feedback from racing activities, the Assist & Slipper Clutch uses two types of cams (an assist cam and a slipper cam) on a standard clutch. The assist function provides an exceptionally light clutch pull and produces a wide clutch engagement range for comfort and confidence. The slipper function reduces the effect of back-torque for smooth and seamless downshifts.
• FAN COVER - Heat Management: Innovative Kawasaki technology like the patented radiator fan cover located behind the radiator directs hot air out to the sides away from the rider, contributing to rider comfort.

LIGHT HANDLING

Lightweight, Stable & Manoeuvrable: With its light weight, the chassis delivers a balance of stability and light, easy manoeuvrability. Its slim design facilitates both control and ease of riding, making the Z400 an easy choice for both new and experienced riders.

• FRAME - Lightweight Trellis Frame: The Z400 features a trellis frame similar in design to that of the Ninja H2. Kawasaki’s advanced dynamic rigidity analysis was used to ensure optimum rigidity with light weight. The engine is rigid-mounted and used as a stressed member. The frame design contributes significantly to the bike’s low curb mass.
• SUSPENSION - Planted Feel. Plush Ride.: Rigid ø41 mm telescopic fork delivers excellent suspension action. The front wheel feels really planted, direction changes are made easily (even when the bike is fairly upright – handy when navigating traffic jams), and overall the suspension offers the plushness of a larger displacement bike. At the rear, 5-way preload adjustability lets riders adjust the stiffness and ride height to suit body weight or when riding two-up.
• BRAKES - Large-diameter Brake Disc : Measuring ø310 mm, the Z400’s semi-floating front disc offers sure stopping power. A rigid front brake master cylinder helps eliminate ineffective (idle) stroke, contributing to controllability, while carefully selected brake hose dimensions and material contribute to brake touch.
• ERGONOMICS - Ergonomics for Active Control: Relaxed rider triangle accommodates a wide range of rider sizes and riding situations. The relatively upright riding position and wide handlebar put the rider in the ideal position for active control, facilitating dynamic, sporty riding.

AGGRESSIVE SUGOMI STYLING

Predatory Looks: Combining the sharp, aggressive style of the Z650 with the large-volume bodywork of its predecessor creates an aggressive, agile, masculine impression. Its muscular, athletic bodywork reflects its sporty performance while forming a flowing design that appears to float above the engine. Like other models in the Z series, sugomi design elements (crouching stance, low-positioned head and upswept tail) give the Z400 a silhouette instantly recognisable as a Kawasaki Supernaked.

• FRONT COWL - Sharp Design & LED Headlight: The angular design of the front cowl is complemented by a compact, dark meter visor that adds to the aggressive looks. The bright LED headlight further adds to the sharp looks.
